2014 update

We have had a quiet year here with no foals born and Cwmsarah Arwr, gelded last autumn, has found a really lovely new home to be a LR pony for Lily who is 5 and already sitting on him bareback so good luck to them all.

The pony being shown this year was the 3yo gelding F. Moonstone who has had a very good season including a Ch and Res Ch Gelding at different shows and qualifying for the Welsh Nats, when sadly he stopped eating and turned into a hatrack for the occasion! Now we just wait for the adding up of gelding points with crossed fingers, and hope he finds an appreciative riding home.

Running with the mares here this season was the 22yo Penwisg Orator, fully Coed Coch bred, who showed he's still got it with Flydon Cadw Cyfrenig being scanned in foal to him yesterday, I believe that Seaview Jewel is in foal too, but I won't have her scanned as she's still very feral, if extremely sweet natured, and I think would have a nervous breakdown if I tried to, I wouldn't subject her to that. Cadw has answered the question about Oliver's fertility anyway. F. Prima Donna is believed safely in foal to Wensley Nimrod which should be a lovely foal.

I have some ridden ponies for sale if anyone's looking, mostly As but also a small Cob who although D bred, will I believe be able to be downgraded to a C at 7yo, bred from top class ridden parents.

New addition!

The buckskin colt foal Islyn Macsen (Sunwillow Irving ex Islyn Hyder
by Waxwing Hurricane) has joined the stud, hopefully as a future
stallion. Sadly the very lovely Cwmsarah Arwr has turned out to be
infertile, is booked in to be gelded, and will be for sale to be
ridden in due course.

Floreat Quintessa has found a lovely loan home being ridden by
children. I love them to be ridden before joining the broodmare
herd, particularly now when like many I have cut down my breeding to
the absolute minimum needed to preserve bloodlines. I do have a
couple of lovely young mares I would lend to the right person for a
ridden career if anyone's interested, one backed, one unbroken, both
shown successfully in hand.

Cosmo's show season

Cosmo has now come home for some down time after a season spent in
the capable hands of Liesl Burt. The brief was to head for some of
the big shows, and he hasn't disappointed, having achieved the
following results:-

1st Surrey County
2nd SoE
2nd SEWPCA
11th RWAS
5th Welsh Nats
2nd Three Shires
3rd Avon
2nd Home Counties

South of England show

Cosmo went really well in his strong yearling colt class and came
second.

Lexy's Floreat D Foal

Her bought in mare Marchell One and Only had a lovely chesnut filly
last Sunday, who long whites behind and interesting face markings.
She also seems to have inherited her sire's pretty head. Lecci is
being a wonderful mother. Lexy has put photos on FB.

The two As due are still holding on to their foals!

May Bank Holiday weekend competing.

Monday was Surrey County Show day, where the yearling A colt Floreat
Cosmos had his first outing and won his youngstock class, followed by
Res Res Ch behind the top two adults. He looked and went really well
in the hands of Liesl Burt and I'm very proud of him.

In a completely different discipline but no less exciting Gemma
Fletcher took the 5yo D gelding Floreat Jumping Jack to his first
ever one day event, including his first ever dressage test, and won
it with a double clear on top of a good dressage score, very well
done to them both. Gemma bought Jack as a baby and has broken and
schooled him herself and it gives me great pleasure to watch their
progress.

Liam Morgan and the A Floreat Kir Royale have qualified for RI as a
FR so good luck to them for the Final. Roy was sold as a youngster
at Fayre Oaks and I lost contact with him for a bit but his current
owners found me on FB and Liam seems to be doing a really good job
with him, more power to his elbow.

Roy's half brother Floreat Harvey Wallbanger (both ex Floreat Creme
de Cassis who is now running with the stallion for her third foal,
fingers crossed) has also been out and about - first hunting with the
Surrey Union, and then starting his showing career and proving to be
a useful WHP, now qualified for both Novice and Intermediate NPS
Finals. He has obviously inherited the family jump!

Floreat Sandpiper, another with whom I'd lost touch and whose current
owners found me on FB, qualified for the SE Dressage Chs at Hickstead
and came 6th in a big class at the Final.

Paith Magical Coriander

Cori very sadly aborted her foal prematurely last weekend following a
huge firework display locally. Buckskin filly too, just what I would
have ordered. She's fine in herself, I'm glad to say.

Floreat Camellia home.

She has been off showing, in the able hands of Leisl Burt, and came
home yesterday after the SEWPCA show looking wonderfuly clean and
sparkling, which hasn't lasted long when turned out in a muddy
field! We were very pleased with her - two firsts, one followed by
Res. Ch. Youngstock, and two thirds, but also because she never put a
foot wrong in spite of not having been off the place before. A true
child's pony in the making!

Last Floreat Foal!

Last of the five is the Section D bay filly Floreat Sweetheart by
Floreat Dandelion out of Vinians Calon. Announcement delayed because
she had a weird autoimmune condition unknown to veterinary science
and we weren't sure if we could keep her - steroids and ABs for
months though seems to have done the trick!
