SEWPCA Stud Judging competition 2008

I don't do that much in-hand showing, but always enjoy the biannual stud judging - this year judged by Jill Williams of Glebedale Stud. Sadly I was away and missed the judging but my daughter Lexy and friend Ann Fisher deputised for me and obviously did a very good job as I was very pleased to come back to some good results. Forlan Welsh Cream and her two daughters F. Creme de Cassis and F. Creme Chantilly won their class and were overall Ch Sec A group. F. Prima Donna, F. Evadne and F. Ariadne, all filly foals by Flydon Henadur, won the class for 3 Sec As by the same stallion/out of the same mare. As a whole, the stud was second overall (to Danaway) in the large studs class, and the Ds were only beaten by the Danaway Ds all the way through the competition - I'm pleased with that as I only have a few and they are bred specifically to be ridden, not aimed at in-hand showing.

New additions to the stud

Polaris Harebell by Nerwen Peledryn ex Cledwen Ceiwen, the most beautiful mare and dam to my stallion Flydon Henadur. Tried to buy her for years and finally they've let me have her, now that they have three of her offspring to keep. She has only been shown once - 4th RWAS.

Cwmsarah Arwr, chesnut colt foal by Nantdywyll Barcud ap Bargen out of Knolton Gwenan, who hopefully will be a future stud stallion.

Foals expected 2009

Calons Vinian x Floreat Dandelion
Penclose Glain x Floreat Dandelion
Flydon Cadw Cyfrenig x Flydon Henadur
Flydon Efa x Floreat Creme Caramel

Floreat Dandelion at NPS Champs 2008

Leo had a very succesful day at the NPS Summer Championships (ridden by Carol Isaac), with the following results:

  • 1st & Champion Picton Novice Ridden Finals
  • 1st Peasedown Intermediate Ridden Finals
Although he had qualified for the Silver Medal Finals as well, this class unfortunately clashed with the Picton class and therefore he did not take part in that final class. Leo was seen to be sleeping (and even snoring !) in between classes in his stable, conserving his energy for the evening performance and the championiship. It was the first time he had taken part in an evening performance of any sort, and he behaved impeccably and certainly rose to the challenge. Well done Leo and Carol.

Floreat Bourbon Cream (Section A Mare, ex Forlan Welsh Cream, by Glenfield Christmas Cracker) was sold in the spring to Nicky Stephens, and was then sold at Fayre Oaks for £3400. She was sold unbroken in the Spring, and Nicky has done a fantastic job in breaking her and producing her over the summer with success inclduing 2nd at Newbury in lead rein class qualifying for NPS micro demolition 2007.
