Late season news

Sadly Leo came home from RWAS with the circulating respiratory bug and so missed both the Welsh Nat Chs and NPS Chs, at both of which he was due to contest finals he had qualified for. Equifest was next, where on three conseuctuve days he was third, first and first and Champion. Next was HOYS, where he did a fantastic show which prompted a big round of applause and ended up 4th. In the meantime, Cassi went to the Home Counties Show and qualified for the Picton Final 2010 and was Res Novice Ch, much to my delight. She has now departed to a super loan home for a ridden career and I look forward to seeing her out next year.

Royal Welsh - Mud, mud, mud !!

Floreat Dandelion coped really well with all the mud in the ridden class at Royal Welsh to end up 3rd in a very strong class with several HOYS and Olympia qualified ponies. He went beautifully for the ride judge and we were both very proud to watch him in the main ring.

Lexy also showed her Sec A yearling filly (Amilas Cassiopeia, by Sunwillow Jubilee) the day before and also finished 3rd.

Many thanks to the Castlemead stud for letting us (people and pony!) stay with them for the week.

Cassi goes to her first show under saddle

Cassi went out to a small local show today as her first outing, and was impeccably behaved and ended up 2nd in a large class. Onwards and upwards !

The Royal - Leo does it again !

Leo (F. Dandelion) has another win in a very large (26 forward) and strong Sec D ridden class at The Royal show today. He also went on to be Res Res behind some other beautiful ponies. We hope this experience will stand him in good stead for the Royal Welsh show coming up soon !

Northleach Showing Results

Floreat Creme de Cassis (Barren Mare/Gelding) - 2nd
Cwmsarah Arwr (yearling colt) - 6th
Amilas Cassiopeia (yearling filly) - 6th (Lexy's)

We were thrilled with Cassi's result at Northleach in a strong class with some top class ponies, and total of 16 ponies forward ! All ponies shown by Lexy who had a busy morning.

Leo qualifies for HOYS

We are obviously a little behind on news .... Leo qualified for HOYS at South of England show on Sat June 13th, making it a double for both Olympia & HOYS in the same week !! And the week of Sarah's birthday too, what a clever boy to give her the best birthday present ever.

As well as winning his class and picking up the HOYS ticket, he then went on to be M&M Ridden Champion. What a true superstar he is.

If you look in this week's Horse & Hound magazine, you will see a lovely photo of him in the show report with a short write up as well.

Leo wins at SEWPCA

Leo (Floreat Dandelion) has another win in the ridden classes, at the SEWPCA summer show, picking up his ticket for the NPS Bob Templeton Open Ridden finals at the NPS champs. He has already also qualified for the NPS Silver Medal ridden finals as well earlier in season.

We look forward to seeing him in the finals at the NPS Champs in August. Well done Leo and Carol !

Cassi is being broken to ride

Cassi (Floreat Creme de Cassis) is away at boarding school and is being broken to ride. She did think she was a lady of leisure as so far in life she has been lightly shown in hand and had two foals, but she is making good progress under saddle and we hope to see her out in the ring under saddle either this season or next.

Many thanks to Philippa Margolin who is doing a great job with her.

Floreat Melissa

Very many congratulations to Sasha Clements who has her on loan and is doing very well indeed with her, including winning the C/D Junior Ridden class and coming 2nd in the Olympia class at NPS 11, winning the Open Ridden C/D class at Suffolk County and being well placed in RI qualifiers. A very great pleasure to me as breeder to see my ponies out there being enjoyed by their riders.

Surrey County Show results

The home bred mare Floreat Creme de Cassis did it again, she was 1st in her class (Sec A 4 yrs & over) and went on to be Reserve A Champion. And 2nd to her in her class was another Floreat bred pony, the 4yr old gelding Floreat Yaffle who was sold locally. Cassi was beaten in championship by Lexy's yearling filly Amilas Cassiopeia who won the youngstock class. So it was a very good day all round at our own local county show.

Flroeat Dandelion at NPS A29 - 1st & Res Ch !

I went down to watch him in his second Olympia qualifier on Sunday at NPS Area 29 and he got a bit nearer! Went beautifully, won his section and was Res Ch to the Highland.

Floreat Dandelion 2nd at Windsor

Floreat Dandelion, the Welsh D stallion, was today 2nd in his first Olympia qualifier at Royal Windsor Horse Show. There was a very high standard in all the classes and we really enjoyed watching both his class and most of the others. He is pictured here in the championship, where he really enjoyed the atmosphere and did a super gallop, as you can see on video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2khQd-CWK7Y

Sec D foal born by Floreat Dandelion

The first of the two babies due by Floreat Dandelion has been born today, a huge big dun colt. And two small white socks at the back and a star, just like his mum ! He is out of Vinans Calon who was bought at the Cob Sales in 2007.

First foal born - Sec A filly

Yesterday while we were watching Badminton - beautiful dark grey filly with blaze and two whites behind, which appear to be the stallions "default" markings, by Flydon Henadur ex Flydon Cadw Cyfrenig. She had rivers of wax last night, and as a first foaler I put her on her own in the little paddock next to the one where the other two mares were, expecting her to foal overnight. No, not happy, she spent all night long walking round and round it and not foaling so I put her back in the big one with the others and hey presto, husband was out in the garden with the dog and came to bang on the window for Lexy and I to come and see.

First show of 2009

Off we went to the SEWPCA Spring Show, this year conveniently held just up the road at Merrist Wood, Guildford. My yearling colt Cwmsarah Awrw ran his heart out to come second in his class, my daughter Lexy's filly Amilas Cassiopeia did likewise to come third in a huge class of yearling fillies, and Floreat Creme de Cassis, pulled out of the field two days earlier to fill the space in the lorry, won the large mare and gelding class! She loves to show and really plays to the crowd. Many thanks to Lexy who showed them all. Just to add to all that, Floreat Yaffle, 4yo gelding sold last year, was third to Cassi in her class, I always did think him a really good pony and it was a pleasure to see him so well produced. He is now broken so I look forward to seeing him in ridden classes next!
